Are You Fruity?

We’ve had it so wrong. We pray, asking God to produce fruit in our lives. We ask Him to give us peace or patience, or joy...you get it. There are two lies evident in this process. First, we believe we must do something to get the fruit – pray, be spiritual, or practice the fruit in an attempt to fake it till we make it. Second, we believe God will give us a single-dose of fruit and we hope we are lucky or please Him enough that the fruit will stick and we will walk fully in goodness, or kindness or self-control.... The God we’ve believed in is stingy, demanding, partial and arbitrary.

Let’s clear something up right now. Just as a man given a fish is fed for a single meal but will be hungry tomorrow, the person who sees God as a giver of single-dose fruit will never experience all He has for them. God doesn’t give us fruit to last a meal, rather He gave us His Son – who lives within us – and whose life contains every permutation of God’s fruit. We don’t need to make an effort or even receive from Him – hear me; rather the answer is in acknowledging that the Spirit lives within us, today! Whether we experience it, manifest it or others don’t see any of His life manifest through us, it doesn’t change the fact. He is within us He already gave us everything we need for life and godliness. It’s not hoping to receive but rather releasing from within our being - His life. Whatever you need, it’s in Christ-in-you. Reach in, talk with Him, walk with Him, wrestle with Him until you realize your very desperate need is already met and you're fruited.

My heart's desire is to walk with people until they believe every good thing that God says about them. This happens as they are introduced to intimate relationship with the lover of their soul.

I love living in Utah with my husband and know a Broadway song appropriate for every occasion in life. I  typically get jokes two minutes after they are told.
